Anxiety in children and teenagers is very common and there are treatments available to help them overcome it.
As a parent, there are many things you can do to support your kids through it:
First things first, talk about anxiety, it’s not a big scary monster that nobody can ever mention, if we speak about it on the regular basis and remain open with our children it can be easier for them to talk about it.
Reassure them that shaking, sweating and a racing heart can be a part of anxiety
Avoid telling them to ‘stop worrying’ – often they can’t control it
Finally Encourage a healthy lifestyle – eat well, exercise, sleep
